Yes I Yell At The TV

Since I changed from my regular desk job as a secretary to a nursing student and part time HCA my schedule's been different from the Monday-Friday 9-5 and the unthinkable has happened. I occasionally catch day time TV, I seem to catch no end of quiz shows whilst working on assignments.

They're the sort of thing I put on in the background then find myself getting irritated with and turning off the TV.

I've discovered that these shows have 3 key ingredients; know it alls; cheesy hosts and incredibly low prize money that seems almost impossible to actually win for the poor hapless contestants.

Pointless is my least favourite, the boyfriend sometimes watches this when it's my turn to cook dinner and I find myself getting wound up and shouting the answers at the TV. Also, the host is the smarmiest of the smarmy quiz hosts, I just can't stand him. You might recognise him from those god awful insurance adverts, I'm not sure if he's been in other things but the fact remains that he shouldn't have been! Sometimes when answers are revealed by the little factual answer man in the corner he'll wait for him to say the answer then nod along and say ah yes of course it was such and such and I just think... you didn't know that answer, Mr Smarm! Be away with you.

I got an Avon catalogue through the other day, I've never lived in an area that has an Avon rep before so I thought I'd try out some things

Unfortunately when my order came it I was refunded for a few items they didn't have which sucked.

My favourite item was the cherry blossom hair refresher spray, it smells so good. The royal jelly hand cream smells really good too and my rep sent me some free samplers. Hurrah for Avon.

We did our weekly shop at Tesco's this week instead of our beloved Sainsbury's and although I was a bit disappointed (they didn't have Tunnocks teacakes!!) I did pick up a soup vegetable mix for a pound. Bargain!

And I didn't realise just how easy it is to make soup, I popped my veg in the saucepan

Mixed my two stock cubes in water

Mixed the two and brought to the boil

Covered and boiled for 30 mins

Let it cool for a little while and then blitzed it in my blender

Then back in the pan to heat! I honestly did not know soup was this easy - I think some people must just make it look hard!

Valentines Meal at The Pigs

The boyfriend and I celebrated Valentines day early as I was away on placement and we went out to a pub near to Holt called the Pigs and it was just lovely there.

Even the car park was lovely!

We sat at table two

And munched some bread

Then we enjoyed some Norfolk style tapas for starters

And I had a chicken and bacon salad which was so so tasty

And the boyfriend had chicken, this is his main

We were both way to full to have desserts (gutted!) but would definitely visit again

Busy Bee

Well, I have been busy these past few weeks. I'm still on placement which is going well (mostly!) that's 30 hours a week. I'm also doing class or independent learning each week, that's 7.5 hours a week. I'm working at my HCA job, that's 12 hours a week. Travel to placement and back on the bus twice a week is 6 hours a week. So that's 55 hours a week busy. Then on top of that I've got 3 big assignments:
 - a 3,000 word communication essay
- a portfolio of my first module's work
- assessment of practice booklet, review and 3,000 word written evidence

Phew - I need a holiday!
